A Message from Gerard Manecke, Timothy Mackey, and Susan Channick Program Directors

Manecke_GerardCircle

This joint Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) Degree between the University of California, San Diego and California Western School of Law was launched in 2007 to equip graduates from both healthcare and legal backgrounds with the knowledge and management practices to work together successfully to meet society’s medical needs in an ever changing more complicated healthcare environment.

Mackey_TimothyCircleWe continually update our curriculum to provide the best scientific, ethical, regulatory, and management training available to prepare our students to be successful in their career endeavors. For students entering fall 2014, we are adding a new class called “Comparative Study of Healthcare Systems” to our CORE course requirements, and creating three different track options for the Capstone Project to better meet individual student needs and interests: 1) a Scholarly Writing Project, 2) an Applied/Experiential Project, or 3) a Peer Review Article Submission.

Channick_SusanCircleStudents have 15 units of general electives in the program to create their own personal study path. We offer a variety of pathway options including global health, ethics in health, and political advocacy. Along with the MAS degree program, we also offer a Global Health Policy Certificate

The degree is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) which is the accrediting body for the University of California. UC Graduate degree programs go through graduate academic reviews of their curriculum/faculty/administration every 7 years by the Graduate Council.

In addition to this degree we offer three other master’s degree programs:
